16. Where can I get a Blue Jagger Diamond?

Ans : The word 'Jager' comes from the name of the South African mine by the name ' Jagersfontein', no longer in operation, it closed in 1971. Diamonds mined from Jagersfontein mine had a distinct body hue of 'blue' and were extremely rare. Please also note that there was a time when the effect of Ultra-Violet (UV) rays in sunlight was mistaken in diamonds to be 'blue' diamonds. New standards now prohibit diamonds to be termed as 'blue' unless they have a distinct body colour of blue after filtering the UV part of the spectrum. Hence, traditionally, it is said that there were more 'blue' diamonds sold than actually produced.
